Orange Mojito with Vodka

This orange mojito is a bright, fizzy citrus cocktail made with vodka, orange juice, fresh mint, lemon, and soda. It’s served cold over ice with fresh citrus and mint for a refreshing drink that comes together quickly in the glass.

Two glasses of orange mojito with orange slices, mint leaves, ice, vodka, and soda water.

This is a vodka-and-orange variation rather than a classic Cuban mojito. A traditional mojito is made with white rum, lime, mint, sugar, and soda water, while this version swaps in vodka and adds orange juice for a softer, fruitier citrus flavor. The International Bartenders Association lists rum, lime, mint, sugar, and soda as the classic mojito base.

If you like fresh fizzy drinks, my Watermelon Mojito is a fruity alcohol-free version with mint and citrus. For another orange-based drink, try my Mimosa Recipe, which also uses chilled orange juice. My Kiwi Juice Recipe is another fizzy fruit drink, while Cucumber Mint Lemonade is perfect when you want mint and citrus without alcohol.

A Fresh Orange Twist on a Vodka Mojito

Fresh citrus and mint sit in the glass, orange juice provides the main fruit flavor, vodka gives it the cocktail base, and soda finishes everything with bubbles.

Because the ingredients are light and fresh, there’s no need for a complicated shaker method.

The finished drink should stay cold, fizzy, and orange-forward, with the mint giving a fresh aroma rather than overpowering the citrus.

Simple ingredients needed to make an orange mojito at home.

Let’s Make an Orange Mojito

  • Add the Citrus and Mint

Add the lemon and fresh mint to the serving glass.

Add fresh orange pieces if using.

If using sugar, add it before muddling.

  • Gently Muddle

Gently press the citrus and mint to release the juice and aroma.

Don’t aggressively crush the mint into tiny pieces; you want the fresh aroma without turning the drink full of shredded leaves.

The classic IBA mojito method also combines mint with citrus and sugar before adding the spirit and soda.

  • Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice.

  • Add the Vodka

Pour in the vodka.

This version uses vodka in place of the traditional rum.

  • Pour in the Orange Juice

Add the chilled orange juice.

The orange juice should give the drink its bright golden-orange color.

  • Top with Soda

Finish with chilled soda or soda water.

Stir gently so you combine the drink without knocking out too much carbonation.

  • Garnish and Serve

Finish with fresh mint and citrus.

Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.

Is an Orange Mojito Normally Made with Vodka

A classic mojito is not.

The International Bartenders Association’s official mojito uses white Cuban rum, fresh lime juice, mint, cane sugar, and soda water.

This drink is an orange mojito with vodka or vodka orange mojito.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Using warm orange juice or soda. Start with chilled ingredients so the ice doesn’t melt immediately.

Crushing the mint too aggressively. Light muddling is enough to release the aroma.

Adding soda too early. Add it toward the end so the finished cocktail stays fizzy.

Stirring hard after adding soda. A gentle stir is enough.

Letting the finished drink sit too long. The bubbles fade and the ice dilutes the cocktail.

How to Serve Orange Mojito

Serve it immediately in a tall glass with plenty of ice.

Garnish with:

  • Fresh mint
  • Orange slice or wedge
  • Lemon slice or wedge

A clear glass works especially well because the bright orange color and mint leaves are part of the presentation.

For entertaining, prepare the citrus and mint ahead, but I’d add the vodka, orange juice, ice, and soda close to serving so the drink stays cold and bubbly.
