These Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft and tender with lightly golden edges, a buttery almond crumb, and plenty of chocolate chips in every bite. The dough comes together quickly in one bowl with no chilling required, making this an easy cookie recipe when you want something warm and chocolatey without much prep.

Soft, Nutty, Chocolatey — and Ridiculously easy to make. These are the cookies I reach for when I want the comfort of chocolate chip cookies but something a little softer and nuttier.

Almond flour gives them a tender texture that’s different from a traditional wheat-flour cookie. The edges turn lightly golden while the middle stays soft, and mini chocolate chips make sure there’s chocolate in almost every bite.

There’s also no dough rolling or long refrigerator rest. Mix, scoop, bake, and try to wait a few minutes before eating one.

My Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies add plenty of crunch, while a warm batch of these almond flour cookies is especially good with Homemade Hot Chocolate.

Can You Make Chocolate Chip Cookies With Almond Flour?

Yes.

This recipe uses finely ground almond flour as the cookie base instead of wheat flour.

The texture is softer and more tender than a traditional flour-based chocolate chip cookie.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using too much almond flour, which can make the cookies dry or crumbly.
  • Using coarse almond meal instead of fine almond flour, which can change the texture.
  • Overmixing the dough once the dry ingredients are added.
  • Adding too many chocolate chips, which can make it harder for the cookies to hold their shape.
  • Overbaking the cookies, which can make them dry instead of soft and tender.
  • Moving the cookies while they are still very hot. Let them cool on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack.

What To Serve With Chocolate Chip Cookies With Almond Flour

Chocolate Chip Cookies With Almond Flour are delicious served with cold milk, almond milk, hot coffee, hot chocolate, or vanilla ice cream. They also pair well with fresh strawberries, banana slices, Greek yogurt, caramel drizzle, or a simple cookie tray for snacks, lunchboxes, and holiday treats.

FAQs

Do almond flour cookies taste like almonds?

They have a mild nutty flavor, but the vanilla and chocolate chips still taste like classic cookies.

Can I use almond meal instead of almond flour?

Almond meal is usually coarser and may include almond skins, so it can change the texture of the cookies. For the best soft almond flour chocolate chip cookies, use fine blanched almond flour when possible.

Why are my cookies crumbly?

Almond flour cookies are delicate when hot. Let them cool longer, and make sure you measured almond flour correctly (don’t pack it).

Can I reduce the sugar?

Yes, but reducing too much can affect spread and texture. A small reduction is usually fine.

How do I know when they’re done baking?

Look for set edges and a center that no longer looks wet. They’ll continue to firm up as they cool.

Can I make these dairy-free?

Try a dairy-free butter substitute (stick-style works best). The texture may be slightly softer.

Notes

  • For best texture, use fine almond flour (not coarse almond meal).
  • If the dough feels very soft, let it rest 5–10 minutes before scooping.
  • Brown sugar adds deeper flavor; white sugar makes the cookies a bit crispier at the edges.
  • Press a few extra chips on top right before baking for a bakery-style look.
