This strawberry banana smoothie with Greek yogurt is thick, creamy, naturally sweet, and ready in about five minutes. Frozen banana, juicy strawberries, milk, and Greek yogurt make it an easy breakfast or afternoon snack.

This Is the Smoothie I Make When Breakfast Needs to Be Easy
Some mornings I want breakfast. Other mornings I want something I can throw into a blender, pour into a glass, and drink while Iām doing something else.
This smoothie is definitely the second kind.
The frozen banana is what makes it so creamy without needing a pile of ice, and the strawberries bring that fresh, slightly tangy berry flavor that keeps the banana from taking over. Greek yogurt makes everything thicker and gives the smoothie a little more staying power, but it still tastes light and fruity.
I also love that there is no complicated smoothie formula here. Fruit, yogurt, milk, blend. I usually taste it before adding the honey because a really ripe banana can already make the whole thing sweet enough.
And if you’re making breakfast into more of a spread, my Easy Strawberry Banana Baked Oatmeal keeps the same strawberry-banana flavors going, while Mini Cinnamon Muffins are perfect alongside a cold smoothie. For another fruity drink, try my Fresh Raspberry Juice, or switch things up with this naturally sweet Fresh Beetroot Juice.
Cold, creamy, fruity, and five minutes from blender to glass. That works for me.

Ingredients for Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Greek Yogurt
You only need a handful of ingredients for this smoothie.
- 1 banana, peeled and frozen
- 3 fresh or frozen strawberries
- ā cup milk (80 ml), dairy or milk of choice
- ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt (60 g)
- 1 teaspoon honey, optional
- Chopped fresh strawberries, optional for serving
Frozen Banana
A frozen banana does most of the work when it comes to texture.
It makes the smoothie thick and creamy without needing much ice. I like slicing the banana before freezing it because smaller pieces are much easier on the blender.
A fresh banana will still work, but the smoothie will be thinner. Add a few ice cubes if you want it colder.
Strawberries
Fresh or frozen strawberries both work.
Fresh berries give the smoothie a slightly lighter texture, while frozen strawberries make it thicker and colder.
If you’re using fresh strawberries, rinse them under running water before removing the stems. The FDA recommends washing fresh produce under running water rather than using soap or commercial produce washes. See the FDAās produce safety guidance.
Greek Yogurt
Plain Greek yogurt gives this smoothie extra creaminess and a slight tang that balances the sweet banana.
Vanilla Greek yogurt works too, but I would taste the smoothie before adding honey because flavored yogurt is usually sweeter.
Milk
Use whichever milk you already like in smoothies.
Whole milk gives the richest texture, while 2% milk keeps things a little lighter. Almond, oat, and soy milk can all work too.
Honey
Honey is completely optional.
If your banana is very ripe, blend the smoothie first and taste it before adding any sweetener.

How to Make Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Tips for a Thick and Creamy Strawberry Banana Smoothie
The easiest way to get that thick smoothie texture is to start with frozen fruit and less liquid.
I always freeze the banana first because it gives the smoothie a creamy, almost milkshake-like consistency without watering it down.
A few other things help:
- Slice the banana before freezing so it blends more easily.
- Add the milk first if your blender struggles with frozen fruit.
- Start with the recipe amount of milk and add more only if necessary.
- Frozen strawberries will make the smoothie even thicker.
- Blend until completely smooth so you don’t have small strawberry pieces left behind.
- Taste before adding honey.
- Serve immediately while the smoothie is cold and frothy.
For more of a smoothie-bowl texture, reduce the milk slightly and blend just until everything comes together.
