Watermelon Lemonade

A refreshing watermelon lemonade made with fresh watermelon juice, mint, sabja seeds, citrus juice, sugar, and black salt.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups seedless watermelon cubes 600 g, chilled
  • 1/2 cup small watermelon chunks 75 g, for serving
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice or lemon juice 30 ml
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons granulated sugar 25 to 38 g
  • 1/8 teaspoon black salt
  • 8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup cold water 240 ml
  • 1 tablespoon sabja seeds or basil seeds 12 g
  • 1/2 cup water 120 ml, for soaking the sabja seeds
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Extra mint for garnish

Method
 

  1. Add the sabja seeds to 1/2 cup water and let them soak for 10 to 15 minutes until swollen.
  2. Add the watermelon cubes, mint leaves, lime or lemon juice, sugar, black salt, and 1 cup cold water to a blender.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Strain the mixture into a jug using a fine mesh strainer.
  5. Add a few watermelon chunks and some soaked sabja seeds to each glass.
  6. Fill the glasses with ice cubes.
  7. Pour the strained watermelon lemonade into the glasses.
  8. Garnish with fresh mint and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ripe watermelon for the best sweetness.
  • Adjust the sugar depending on how sweet your watermelon is.
  • Use lime juice for a fresher flavor or lemon juice for a more classic lemonade taste.
  • For a sparkling version, replace part of the water with sparkling water.
