Ingredients
  

  • - 3 medium apples chopped, about 3 cups
  • - 2 tablespoons water 30 ml
  • - 1 tablespoon salted butter 14 g
  • - 1 tablespoon maple syrup 15 ml
  • - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • - 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • - 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1.25 ml

Method
 

  1. Wash, core, and chop the apples into evenly sized bite-size pieces.
  2. Add the apples and water to a large skillet.
  3. Add the butter and cook, stirring as it melts and coats the apples.
  4. Add the maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Continue cooking, stirring regularly, until the apples are tender but still hold their shape and the liquid becomes glossy.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Remove from the heat and serve warm.
