Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 kg pumpkin peeled and cut into thick rectangles
  • 350 g sugar
  • Walnuts chopped (for topping)

Method
 

  1. Peel the pumpkin and cut it into thick rectangular pieces.
  2. Arrange the pumpkin pieces in a baking dish in a single layer.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the pumpkin.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and remove the plastic wrap.
  6. Bake until the pumpkin is soft and glossy in its natural syrup.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
  8. Serve topped with chopped walnuts.
