Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup milk 120 mL
  • 2 tbsp sugar 30 g
  • 1 tsp instant yeast 4 g
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt 2 g
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 300 g
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter 30 g, room temperature
  • Neutral oilfor frying
  • Granulated sugarfor coating

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, whisk the warm milk with sugar and instant yeast until combined.
  2. Whisk in the egg and salt until smooth.
  3. Add the flour and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough until it starts to smooth out, then knead in the room-temperature butter until fully incorporated and the dough is soft and elastic.
  5. Cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 60–90 minutes).
  6. Roll dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut donut shapes.
  7. Let cut donuts rise until puffy (about 20–30 minutes).
  8. Fry in hot oil until golden on both sides
  9. Drain briefly, then coat as desired
