In a small jar or bowl, add the lime juice, olive oil, chipotle powder or chili powder, cumin, sugar, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt.
Shake or whisk until the dressing is well combined.
Add the rinsed and drained black beans to a large mixing bowl.
Add the drained corn, diced red bell pepper, diced red onion, chopped cilantro, quartered cherry tomatoes, and diced avocado.
Pour the lime dressing over the salad.
Gently toss until all the ingredients are coated in dressing.
Taste and adjust with more salt, lime juice, or black pepper if needed.
Chill for 20 to 30 minutes if desired, then serve.
