- Add the sugar and 1 cup water to a saucepan.
- Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Remove from the heat and let the simple syrup cool.
- Cut the lemons in half and juice them.
- Pour the fresh lemon juice into a large pitcher.
- Add the cooled simple syrup.
- Pour in 7 cups ice-cold water.
- Stir well until combined.
- Taste and adjust with more lemon juice, cold water, or syrup if needed.
- Add lemon slices and ice right before serving.
- Serve cold.
